       I'm a sixth year PhD candidate in English, finishing my dissertation this year (goal is a December defense!) I work on intersections of gender, science, and imperialism in late 19th century British gothic fiction, and am currently working on a chapter about Egypt and Richard Marsh's The Beetle.       I teach in the Gen Ed Lit program in English, and my fall course will explore crime writing as a genre; I also work as a tutor in the Writing Center, and help with programming in Engineering's Hanson Center for Communication. My hobbies include long walks with an audiobook, crafting (knitting, crochet, embroidery), reading and writing constantly, and obeying the fickle whims of my feline overlord, Frodo Stoker Fluffinbeans (shown below). This summer, I hope to complete two chapters and my fall course planning. Good news: I'm a quick and efficient researcher and writer when I manage to get down to it.
